Kumeu River Wines was established in 1944 by Mick and Katé Brajkovich, who emigrated with their son Maté and daughters Franka and Nevenka to New Zealand from Dalmatia, Croatia, in 1938. Originally named San Marino Vineyards, the winery began producing high-quality table wines in the 1980s from newly developed vineyards in Kumeu. To reflect this transition, it changed its name to Kumeu River Wines in 1986. Today, Kumeu River produces Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Merlot from its 65...
